New Horizons Clubhouse

The New Horizons Clubhouse offers community-based rehabilitation, daily lunch program, transitional and supported employment, social and recreational activities for people living with mental illness.

The Clubhouse follows the standards of the International Centre for Clubhouse Development (ICCD). It is a community-based psycho-social rehabilitation program that optimizes social and vocational competencies, through focus on the work ordered day. Members are offered the opportunity for involvement in the kitchen, clerical, and maintenance units. A lunch program is offered daily at a cost of $2.00 per lunch to members.

The Employment Unit offers employment opportunities for members in our Transitional Employment Program (TEP). Our TEP holds contracts with Catalyst Paper where we employ five members per season. We have two members  working the year-round janitorial contract with the Capitol Theater. We also have a year-round employee working at Alberni Drug & Alcohol Prevention Service (ADAPS) as well as persons employed at the CMHA Administration offices and at our housing sites. Seasonal and casual work contracts are provided to businesses and the private sector as needed.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of our community partners past and present: The Capitol Theater, Catalyst Paper, ADAPS, ACAWS, Trinity Church.

Examples of work provided: yard work, painting, janitorial, moving and garbage removal.

Please contact our office if you are interested in hiring our members for work through our TEP program.
